Accommodation
Tawnylust Lodge is a beautifully appointed, one bedroom en suite self-catering apartment, covering 47m2. The accommodation includes a spacious living area with a fully equipped kitchenette, and the bedroom features a superking size bed (two single beds zip & linked together). The Lodge is perfect for single people or couples. The apartment is semi detached from the main house with its own entrance, patio area and parking.
The enchanting Lodge is surrounded on three sides by native trees. Guests also have access to a sunny patio area where they can enjoy the breathtaking views of Ballinabehy Mountain and Munakill Lake to the front, and Doagh Mountain to the back. The apartment itself features huge windows to frame these stunning panoramic views.
Tawnylust Lodge reflects Nuala’s passion for the environment, with passive solar heating, solar panels, energy efficient appliances and many extra eco-friendly measures. Our “welcome pack” for guests continues the green and natural theme of the Lodge. The pack includes local organic and Fairtrade cereal, tea, coffee, local jams and chutneys. We also provide information on the biodiversity, archaeology and heritage of the local area, plus details on the local arts and culture scene.
Our accommodation is wheelchair accessible, with a minimum booking period of 2 nights, with exception of July and August, when your stay needs to be 7 nights minimum.
Organic herbs are available onsite in the kitchen garden for guests’ use.
Tawnylust Lodge is located on a working farm where guests can interact with the animals. Visitors in Spring can sometimes help out with feeding new born lambs. There are plenty of native trees around the lodge, and lots of beautiful walks where children can safely explore. In Spring and early Summer, the surrounding fields are teaming with wild flowers, birds and wildlife. If you’re lucky, you might catch the hen harrier or buzzard searching its territory for lunch, or see the bats hunting after dusk. We also have red squirrels and pine martens in the locality.
Because of the livestock on the farm, we regret that pets are not permitted. But you are free to play with our friendly sheepdogs and farm cats!
