Day 1: Imagine times past in an original Irish cottage, birthplace of hero Sean MacDiarmada on a tour with one of the passionate guides. Free

Visit Kiltyclogher Heritage Centre and learn about our past on this scenic border village and how locals always found a way to work with communities on both sides of that border. Free

Take a scenic drive to Garrison with fantastic views of Lough Melvin and onto the renowned Organic Centre in Rossinver.

Activities Day 2 MacNean Sculpture Trail

Day 2: Waltz around the dance floor in the iconic Ballroom of Romance in Glenfarne and visit their stunning interactive museum of the show band era, take a step back in time with the most up-to-date technology with a virtual reality experience (Adm €5). If you’re in need of more exercise, then a walk or cycle around Glenfarne Forest, home place to the Tottenham Estate and MacNean Sculpture Trail.

Choose a lakeside stroll or keep to the woodlands, savour a packed lunch at one of the beautifully positioned picnic areas. Another wonderful walk to choose is the Leitrim Way, part of the Beara Breifne Way, a 500 kilometer historic walk from Cork to nearby Blacklion.

With all that exercise and culture, you’ll be in need of sustenance for the body. Try the full Irish breakfast with yummy homemade brown bread at the Lavender Cafe at Clancy’s of Glenfarne.

For evening meal, it has to be Osta at W8 Centre for an eclectic mix of local and international cuisine or for excellent traditional pub fayre, Gurns Bar Manorhamilton. If its the perfect pint of Guinness you’re after then McHugh’s Pub in Glenfarne or Connolly’s pub in Manorhamilton are the top spots. They offer the ‘real’ Irish pub experience, no tv, no food, no till but music and conversation that are the best in Ireland.

Their welcome pack of local, organic and fairtrade goods is a favourite for the guests who can top up at the local Farmer’s Market on Friday mornings or at the renowned Organic Centre. Lots of choices of walks and the owner Nuala offers great advice on what to do and where to go in the area.
