Suggested Walks

Day 1 Glencar Escarpment via Dooneen’s Road. The incredible views over Glencar lake and valley are truly breathtaking. Its a small climb at the start but well worth it for the vista. Pick up a packed lunch at Glencar Tea Shed or pop in for lunch with a view after your walk. For more information on the walk visit; Dooneens & Hudsons Walk Leitrim

Day 2 Fowley’s Falls, Rossinver You have another treat in store  on this linear walk by the Glenaniff River. Park at The Organic Centre and start this linear walk by the Glenaniff river. It is a stunning walk any time of year, Autumn/ Winter when the waterfalls are thunderous or Spring/Summer when the wild flowers are at their best. There are a series of seven falls and then at the end, the most beautiful green meadow with picnic tables to sit and enjoy your lunch. Pop into the Organic Cente on the way back and browse their shop and café. This linear walk is 3Km each way. If you would prefer something shorter, you can park in the newly designated car/bike park near Rossinver Youth and Community Cente and have a lovely walk where you will see most of the falls.

Day 3 The Leitrim Way This exciting newly refurbished trail is being extended currently. This 36Km route will tie in with The Beara Breifne Way (700km) and the Ireland Way (1010Km) but you can do as much or as little of it as your like. Part of the trail is visible from Tawnylust Lodge     For more information on the trail visit; The Leitrim Way   Rest your legs at Osta Restaurant Manorhamilton after the walk.

Day 4 Cuilcagh Mountain Boardwalk This iconic hike known as the Stairway to Heaven is a must on your visit to Leitrim. Just  pop over to Fermanagh’s geopark and hit the boardwalk. Theres a 40 minute hike in before you reach the boardwalk but the views and geology enroute are amazing! For more information on the walk visit; Cuilcagh Mountain Boardwalk     Stop off at the Lavender Restaurant Glenfarne for sustenance after your walk. If you book in advance you can give yourself a treat at McNean Restaurant Blacklion.

Day 5 Glenfarne Demesne Forest Walk This flat lakeside forest walk is a lovely alternative to a hill walk if your legs are in need of a little rest. With beautiful views across to Fermanagh and Cavan over Lough MacNean, there are a choice of looped walks. Follow part of the MacNean Sculpture Trail and enjoy these beautiful art pieces with the lake as a backdrop! There are lots of scenic spots to stop off for a picnic so bring the flask supplied and some local goodies! All walks are located within a 20 minute or less drive from Tawnylust Lodge. All walks are free of charge except for parking at Cuilcagh Mountain.
